The World and Development:

According to the MDGMonitor, a website on United Nations' Millennium Development Goals, the simplest definition of Development is that it refers to a 'specified stage of advancement or growth'.

More specifically, they write, Development is understood as a process of change that is good. They provide three common categories of the concept of Development: 1. Development as a vision; 2. Development as a historical process and 3. Development as action.

Keeping this in mind, it is safe to say that Development is now a common and welcomed phenomenon around the world. It is engaged with by governments, international development organizations, civil and public societies, and local communities.
